![]() ![]() Most recent contradiction is at Google I/O this year where they showed off a new command from Google Assistant where you speak naturally. Too many times I’ve seen Google contradict themselves by using Spotify at their product/software demos (mind you Spotify uses Google’s infrastructure to power their service since being removed from AWS back in 2017) or being supported on a new Google device at launch day before promoting their own first-party product. So good luck making that Disney playlist!Īnd for all of you that will say the first three can be solved by “mAkE a BrAnD aCcOuNt!” I’d rather keep my account aggregation as simple as possible.Īlso, what’s so funny is Google’s lack of promotion when it comes to YouTube Music outside the realm of YouTube. Also, like the main YT your MiniPlayer will auto-pause if it detects you leave the main player. Kids songs (or even songs aren’t even targeted to Kids) are still subject to YT’s community guidelines will not let you make or add a playlist out of them. Since YTM is still built on the backend of YouTube’s main servers, it continues to have the mess which is the federally mandated COPPA Act here in the US. Yes it has Sonos support and most of the devices Spotify has, but Spotify has that and a bunch of other speaker brands, both gaming consoles, a god damn refrigerator, Amazon Echo (YT Music doesn’t have), I could really go on. YouTube Music is a bit more finicky on device support. Playing on devices is a bit more difficult. This goes if it’s the opposite of YouTube. I have a “motivational speaker” playlist that is coded in mine and if I removed it, Google/YT will see it as removed from the main YouTube side as well. Some of your main YouTube playlists may be mistakenly in your YouTube Music library as well. Making it not as distinct from the regular side of YT and the music side of YT. Want to follow an artist on YouTube Music? It will be considered also as “Subscribed” from the Main YouTube section too. Only exception is playlists are still capped like YouTube Music, which I won’t complain about. Spotify has since been “unlimited” since the pandemic hit. ![]() Mind you this will count against your regular YouTube likes as well. Library limit is locked to 5k songs (Ala likes). I would still continue to preach Spotify regardless of their problems (and yes, I am a shareholder too).Ĭurrently YouTube Music/Premium’s problems from my end: As someone who’s a Spotify veteran since it came to the states and has seen where its come to now. However, I’ve found YouTube Music/Premium having more faults than Spotify when it comes to library management and/or recommendations. it makes spotify seem good in comparison. Having youtube premium and ytm in one subscription seemed like a good enough deal for me to give it an earnest try, but it just wasn't a good enough service for me to keep using. ![]() I had ytm attempt to play episodes of a lets-play when shuffling my liked songs because the youtube algorithm heard the theme song at the beginning of the video and thought the video was a song. playing into the last one, many videos get incorrectly categorized as music. if you ever liked videos from a meme music channel like shittyfluted or silvagunner, they will come up in your ytm subscribing to an artist on ytm subscribes to them on youtube. ![]() liking a song on youtube likes it on ytm. a lack of separation between youtube and youtube music. extremely long loading times, frequent crashes, and extreme lag when large amounts of content is downloaded I used ytm before switching to spotify and there were multiple problems that were dealbreakers for me. Spotify isn't perfect, but I haven't had any problems that are dealbreakers for me. If google adds some features to ytm in the near future I would love to switch to ytm! Sometimes they are just some cringe music videos depending on your country.Īlso when downloading playlists, it does not show a download tick on each song. These charts remain same for almost months. For example if you go to the charts section in ytm, it will just show you what music videos are trending in you country on YouTube (not ytm). YouTube music just doesn't have enough features yet and they are not even trying to compete with other services. Thats why I have started hating the Spotify radio feature. Most of the times Spotify just ends up suggesting songs from my library itself regardless or what song I just played. Ig thats why ytm is great at suggestions. While YTM gives you individual song suggestions based on what you just listened to. That's why Spotify likes to create playlists for everything. Imo Spotify is more "playlist based" while YouTube music is more "individual songs" based. I have used both services but got back to Spotify because of its social features and device to device sync feature that I use a lot. ![]()
